Top 10 Wedding Trends that Need to DIE !!!

I don't consider myself a wedding expert. But I've both attended and helped plan weddings for numerous people in the last 5 years. So I compiled a list of the top 10 wedding trends that need to die a quick death, based on my observations and the observations of colleagues in "the industry". Here it is:

Top 10 Wedding Trends that Need to DIE
~As compiled by myself and friends in the wedding industry~

10) The cutesy “bride dragging the groom by his tux” cake topper. We’ve all seen this at at least one wedding reception in the last few years. We get it. She’s dragging him off to marry her! Forcing someone to marry you is so funny! Now stop it.

9) The red & white wedding dress. The very first time I saw this dress on a bride, I thought it was unique. Now it just looks tired and trashy. It screams David’s Bridal. Not that there’s anything wrong with buying from David’s Bridal, but do you really want your guests to be certain that you got your dress of the $99 rack? Believe me, they won’t think it came from Monique Lhuillier.

8) The help yourself candy buffet/bar. SOooooo over. Will only impress your relatives from the sticks that ain’t been to no fancy weddins’ ever.

7) The wedding cake that looks like a blue Tiffany box. Did your ring come from Tiffany? Didn’t think so.

6) Playing your college/sorority/fraternity/fight song/theme song at your wedding reception if it’s been more than 5 years since you graduated. Move on with your life! Aggies, that means you too!

5) Pitting vendors against each other & lying about what a competing vendor has offered you in order to get the best “deal”. This is not only tacky, it’s disrespectful to your vendor and the quality of their product!

4) Silk flowers décor and centerpieces. Noooo! In this case, DON’T fake it till you make it. If you can’t afford real flowers from a florist then opt for candles or single buds in a vase from a wholesale florist.

3) “Save the Date” cards for showers, bachelorette parties and other wedding-related events. This is overkill at its finest. Save the “save the date” for the actual wedding itself!

2) Registering at more than 3 stores! Again, tacky, tacky, tacky!

AND FINALLY…

1) Anything having to do with a fairytale princess theme (tiaras, wands, horse & carriage departure, fake castle décor, lots of pink, etc)!! You want to feel like a princess on your big day and so do thousands of other women on their big day. Fine! But be more creative about it!
